As part of efforts to protect the Connecticut electric grid from outages due to coastal flooding and storm damage and to implement upgrades to the bulk electric system in general, UI will be upgrading our coastal substations to avoid damage and outages during coastal flood events.
Three flood mitigation projects (FMPs) will be constructed, 2 in Bridgeport and 1 in New Haven. These FMPs are unique and first of its kind to be implemented by UI. They demonstrate the UI commitment to lead in the climate adaptation efforts.
